Shake things up

Hello all!

So I have moved past my breakfast mug cake phase (they’re more of my dessert indulgence now, hehe!) and moved onto a protein shake one. They’re great to get me going in the morning, and help out especially after a nice workout! So this morning I whipped up…

A peanut butter, oat, and banana protein shake! Obviously shakes can be versatile and transformed with every ingredient you add, so this morning I got creative with mine. Here’s what you’ll need:

1 c milk (I used almond milk)

Half a large banana

1/4 c oats

1 tb peanut butter

1 scoop protein powder

4-5 ice cubes

Because I tend to make one portion smoothies and shakes, I use this bad boy –

The MAGIC BULLET! I’m sure you’ve seen the infomercial for this item at least once. I was sucked in by it’s glory at a young age and pleaded my parents to buy it for me. Only when it became available at Costco was this sucker mine. And I love it!

So I use almond milk in my cooking a lot, as you guys may have picked up, for which I use the original flavored and unsweetend. And I drink the sweetened vanilla flavored regularly, too. But for smoothies and shakes, I like to use both in order to balance things out. So I use half a cup of each kind –Image

And pour it in my bullet cup –

Then I add my scoop of protein powder (I use vanilla) –

Then I measure out my quarter cup of oats, to get more body in there –

And break up my banana into the cup, as well –

Penultimately, I throw in the peanut butter –

And lastly, squeeze in my 4-5 ice cubes (if I can fit them!)

Now I simply blend it up –

And pour it into my desired drinking glass, garnish it with some granola, and viola –

A yummy and filling protein shake! This is perfect for the long day I have ahead of me! Some errands, a private party to lifeguard, and prepping for Heidi coming home tomorrow. YAY!
